Afghanistan will host Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in a packed schedule of international cricket across all three formats in the UAE, beginning in October. The programme opens with a one-off Test between Afghanistan and Bangladesh from October 9 to 13, before all three nations come together for an ODI tri-series running from October 17 to 23.
Zimbabwe and Bangladesh get the tri-series underway on October 17, with Afghanistan then taking on Zimbabwe on October 19 and Bangladesh on October 21. The summit clash follows on October 23 to conclude the 50-over portion of the tour.
The schedule does not stop there. Three T20Is between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe are set for October 27, 29 and November 1, before a two-match Test series brings the programme to a close. The first Test begins on November 5 and the second from November 13.
Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni welcomed the breadth of the schedule, highlighting the value of cross-format competition for his players. “This is an important tour for Zimbabwe, offering our players high-quality competition across all three formats,” he said. “The ODI tri-series will test us against two strong sides, while the two Tests are especially valuable as we continue seeking more regular opportunities in the longest format.”
Makoni also acknowledged the cooperation that made the tour possible. “We sincerely appreciate the Afghanistan Cricket Board for hosting this programme and the Bangladesh Cricket Board for their cooperation. We look forward to a competitive and exciting tour.”
Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan echoed those sentiments, framing the series as part of a broader commitment to giving the national team consistent high-quality cricket. “Playing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe across different formats will provide our players with valuable competitive opportunities and offer our supporters an exciting period of international cricket,” he said. “The ACB remains committed to providing our national team with regular, high-quality international cricket. We highly value our relationships with the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Zimbabwe Cricket and appreciate their cooperation in making these important assignments possible.”
