The Women’s Big Bash League 2025 came to a thrilling conclusion with Hobart Hurricanes Women finally breaking their title drought. After years of near misses, the Hurricanes produced a dominant campaign and sealed their maiden trophy with an emphatic eight-wicket win over Perth Scorchers Women in the final.

Finishing at the top of the league table and cruising straight into the final, Hobart were clearly the most complete side of the season. Beyond team success, WBBL 2025 also delivered standout individual performances — from record-breaking batters to match-winning all-rounders and bowlers who consistently turned games.

Based on impact, consistency, and match influence, here is the WBBL 2025 Team of the Tournament.

Lanning scored 479 runs in 11 innings at a remarkable average of 53.22, the best in the competition. Her sublime 135 was also the highest individual score of the season, underlining her class at the top.

    3. Danni Wyatt-Hodge (Hobart Hurricanes Women)

A key architect behind Hobart Hurricanes’ title triumph, Danni Wyatt-Hodge delivered explosive starts throughout the tournament. Her fearless approach at the top gave Hurricanes an early edge in most matches.

Wyatt scored 432 runs in just 10 innings, averaging 48 with a strike rate of 144, including four half-centuries. She slots perfectly into the No. 3 role in this XI.

    4. Sophie Devine (Perth Scorchers Women | Captain)

Sophie Devine was one of the most impactful all-rounders in WBBL 2025. Leading Perth Scorchers to the final, she consistently contributed in both departments and sets the standard as captain of this team.

Devine picked up 15 wickets at an economy of 8.09 and also added 235 runs with the bat. Her leadership and match-winning ability make her an automatic inclusion.

    5. Ashleigh Gardner (Sydney Sixers Women)

Another powerful season from Ashleigh Gardner, who once again proved her value as a genuine all-rounder. While her batting numbers were modest, her bowling was outstanding.

Gardner finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker of WBBL 2025 with 19 wickets in 10 matches, including a sensational 5/15, the best bowling figures of the season.

    6. Nicola Carey (Hobart Hurricanes Women)

From steady contributions to finishing the final in style, Nicola Carey enjoyed a memorable campaign. She was one of Hobart’s most reliable performers and delivered whenever required.

Carey scored 186 runs at an average of 46.50 and a strike rate of 124.83, while also claiming 10 wickets at an economy of 7.52, offering perfect balance to the side.

    7. Annabel Sutherland (Melbourne Stars Women)

Melbourne Stars skipper Annabel Sutherland impressed with her calm leadership and all-round skills. Whether bowling at the death or batting under pressure, she made vital contributions throughout the season.

Sutherland finished with 11 wickets and 174 runs, providing flexibility with both bat and ball in the middle order.

    8. Georgia Wareham (Melbourne Renegades Women)

Despite Melbourne Renegades missing out on the playoffs, Georgia Wareham was one of the stars of WBBL 2025. Her all-round brilliance stood out in an otherwise tough season for her team.

Wareham picked up 19 wickets at a superb economy of 5.47 and also scored 277 runs at a strike rate of 147.34, making her one of the most valuable players of the tournament.

    9. Heather Graham (Hobart Hurricanes Women)

Another Hurricanes match-winner, Heather Graham played a crucial role with the ball. Used effectively in all phases of the innings, she consistently broke partnerships.

Graham ended the season with 16 wickets at an economy rate of 7.76, finishing as Hobart’s leading wicket-taker.

    10. Linsey Smith (Hobart Hurricanes Women)

England spinner Linsey Smith enjoyed a standout season and was a key part of Hobart’s bowling attack. Her accuracy and ability to control the middle overs proved vital.

Smith took 15 wickets at an economy of 7.58, often delivering match-defining spells under pressure.

    11. Kim Garth (Melbourne Stars Women)

Rounding off the XI is experienced seamer Kim Garth, who delivered consistently with the new ball. Her knack for early breakthroughs made her one of the most reliable pacers of the season.

Garth finished with 14 wickets at an economy of 7.21, adding depth to the pace attack.
