Bowlers Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan are on the shortlist of bowlers going to South Africa. There might be a couple more on the list, some like Nitesh Tiwari, who is a promising 20-year-old left-arm pacer from UP who was bought for Rs. 1 crore in the mini-auction by LSG.
SA20 is set to begin on December 26 and will see the DSG fight to win the title for the first time. This franchise has a stacked coaching staff, which includes Lance Klusener, Bharat Arun, Tom Moody, and Carl Crowe. The latter three are also part of LSG’s coaching staff, which will add to the familiarity the Indian bowlers will feel in the DSG camp.
Both Avesh and Mohsin have been out of action for a long time now due to injury. And while the two have slowly started bowling again, this excursion will play a massive role in not only bringing them back to game fitness but will also help them in picking up new skills.
Avesh Khan, who used to be a semi-regular part of the Indian T20I team, has not played since the last IPL season, having undergone knee surgery. Mohsin Khan, on the other hand, missed out on the last season completely and is now on the road to recovery.
The Lucknow Super Giants went into the IPL 2026 mini-auction with Rs. 22.95 crore. They increased their squad by six players in the auction. Josh Inglis was their most expensive buy for Rs. 8.6 crore, followed by Indian wicketkeeper Mukul Choudhary for Rs. 2.6 crore.
Akshat Raghuvanshi was snatched up for Rs. 2.2 crore, South African pacer Anrich Nortje was bought for a base price of Rs. 2 crore, and so was Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. Finally, the Super Giants picked up the aforementioned Naman Tiwari for Rs. 1 crore.
LSG had a season to forget in IPL 2025. The team finished seventh, missing out on the playoffs for a second season in a row. They won only six out of their 14 matches, losing eight. With this player excursion, help them improve their results; it remains to be seen.
